#CAA(Citizenship Amendment Act) and NRC: Immigrants under Threat.

Citizenship Amendment Act And NRC: Immigrants under THREAT.

The Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA) is discriminative and it authority has to be subjected to strict judicial inspection. The Bhartiya Janta party (BJP), which currently leads the Indian government, had promised in previous election manifestos to offer Indian citizenship to persecuted religious minorities from neighbouring countries.Modi governments has decided to throw all illegal immigrants out of country.

Religiously persecuted- means those minority people in a country which are tortured on basis of their religion.
Under the 2019 amendment, migrants who had entered India by 31 December 2014, and had suffered "Religious persecution" in their country of origin were made eligible for citizenship. The amendment also relaxed the residence requirement for naturalisation of these migrants from 11 years to 5 years.
Naturalisation is the legal process by which a non-citizen of a country may acquire nationality of a country.

Citizenship Amendment Act.
Minority communities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are most welcomed under this law, but why only from these three countries? Why couldn't they allow the minority communities from other countries like Sri Lanka, Tibet, Myanmar?
This law does not apply to the tribal areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura.
The amendment has been widely criticised due to discrimination made on religion basis. Various rumours were made that Indian minorities, mainly Muslims will not be given citizenship or their citizenship is under threat. These rumours could be the plan of some people to destroy the peace in constitution of country.
Major protests against the Act were held at different major universities in India. The protests have led to the death of several protesters, policemen, damage to public and private property, and suspensions of local internet and communication facilities of various parts of country in order to avoid the further stress of present adverse conditions.

Statements in Favour of Citizenship Amendment Act.

  • India made citizenship norms easy for religiously persecuted ones, so that they will not be tortured and can be saved.
  • Neither students have the right to set the buses on fire during their protests, nor the policemen have the right to beat students severely. But what can police do to demolish the protests.

Statements against law Citizenship Amendment Act.

  • This CAA law violates the article 14 of constitution, which guarantees the right to equality to every citizen.
  • From this law about 5,40,000 Bengali hindus will get the permit but what about Bengali muslims, will they get permit?
  • The law needed to be seen from NRC side also, as the CAA law goes against NRC.
  • There was a fault of about 8% in Adhaar execution, and if there would not be the name of the 8% people in NRC, where would they be kept.
  • This law covers only religious persecution, not political and social.
  • Against secularism (preamble).
  • The leaders of  BJP Bhartiya Janta party are itself not clear with their bill.
  • what would happen to those who are permanent citizens of India from generations, but are not able to produce the documents of their citizenship.

#It should be noted that "NRC act is established only in Assam at present, and no final list of NRC register have been prepared yet", according to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
what about the people of assam whose name are not in NRC, will they be declared as illegal immigrant or not? what our government(BJP Bhartiya Janta party) is hiding from us? why couldn't they clarify whether legal immigrants will be treated as illegal immigrants or not?
